A fisherman found a body on a tributary of Hurricane Creek Saturday evening, according to law enforcement officials.
Chief Investigator Josh Dale with the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that an unidentified fisherman called 911 shortly before 2 p.m. and reported a body floating in a creek several hundred yards east of Wildlife League Rd.
Sheriff’s deputies and representatives from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation worked the scene, and Grenada County Coroner Eddie Robinson pronounced the subject dead.
Dale would not say whether or not deputies suspected foul play, nor would he speculate as to a cause of death.
The body was sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an autopsy, Dale said.
An investigation is ongoing, according to Dale.
