A Grenada police officer who also serves as chief of the Vaiden Police Department has been placed on administrative leave without pay from both departments.
According to Grenada Interim Chief Russell Carver, patrolman Allen Vance will be absent from the department for an indefinite period. Vaiden Mayor Melvin Hawthorne also said that Vance was suspended without pay from the Vaiden department, pending a court ruling.
Vance is charged with one count of arson and one count of conspiracy to commit arson on an insured property in connection with the burning of a vehicle in Grenada on Feb. 10. The alleged crime is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal, according to court documents.
Carver would not link Allen’s leave directly to his arrest.
