Approval of the 2013-14 calendar and an update on the district’s financial audit topped the agenda of a short meeting of the Grenada School Board on Tuesday.
The board voted unanimously to approve dates for the next school year.
Students will report to class on Aug. 8; Christmas holidays will be Dec. 23 through Jan. 3, and graduation will be May 23, 2014.
The district received the most favorable rating possible for its annual financial audit.
According to Financial Director Bo Surrell, the district received a rating of “unqualified.”
“That means there were no comments, and that we are a low-risk auditee,” said Surrell. The audit was conducted by Fortenberry and Ballard CPA firm in Ridgeland.
“I’m very proud of the audit, and we’ve gone for a number of years without any violations,” said Surrell.
