Season three of Operation Jump Start is set to kick off with an information session that’s open to everyone.
Those who think they might have a good idea for launching or developing a small business are encouraged to attend a seminar at 6 p.m. on March 20 in the Keeton Room at Holmes Community College.
John Brandon, senior associate manager at the Mississippi Development Authority, will conduct the session.
“There are no special requirements. A person doesn’t have to own their own business or have any special background,” said Pablo Diaz, executive director of the Grenada Economic Development District, which oversees Operation Jump Start.
The information session will help prospective participants determine if they’re up to completing the six-week course, which begins on Apr. 8.
Jump Start teaches the key elements of starting a small business. It helps an entrepreneur assess the viability of an idea by learning how to create a budget, do a market analysis, establish a professional network and develop a business plan.
Participants get advice and instruction from bankers, lawyers and other players from across the landscape of the business world.
