The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., once said that Grenada was the toughest nut he had to crack, but according to those gathered Saturday for an observance of Black History Month, the Lake City has come a long way.
“God, we testify to your goodness, and to our wounds, and we know that you were always present in our struggle,” said Ward Four Councilman the Rev. Ernest Hargrove, as he gave the opening invocation to a gathering of around 20 at the Lewis Johnson Senior Complex.
Pastors and civic leaders gathered alongside those who once marched for civil rights. They shared stories, shared a meal and reflected upon the challenges blacks have faced in Grenada.
