Jasmine Alford
Funeral services for Jasmine Alford, 19, are at 11 a.m Saturday, Feb. 16, at Water Valley City Auditorium. Burial will follow in Rocky Mt. M.B. Church Cemetery in Yalobusha County.
Visitation is Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home.
Miss Alford died Feb. 8, 2013, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
She was born on May 5, 1993, in St. Louis, Mo., to Calvin Alford Jr. of Water Valley.
Miss Alford was a member of Rocky Mt. M.B. Church of Water Valley, a graduate of Water Valley High School where she played basketball, was a cheerleader and a member of the Beta Club Honor Society. She was an accounting major, currently attending Northwest Community College in Senatobia, where she was a member of the Northwest Rangerettes and the Honor Society.
Preceding Miss Alford in death is her grandmother, Linda Young.
Surviving Miss Alford are her parents, Calvin Alford Jr. and Missy Alford of Water Valley; two sisters, Ca’Najah D’Nay Alford and Niketa Wilson of Water Valley; brother, Calvin Alford III of Water Valley; her grandparents, Calvin Alford Sr. of St. Louis, Mo., Calvin Young of Oxford, and Betty Woodard of Water Valley; her special friend, Jordan “J.D.” Fondon.

Maggie Elizabeth Williams Fobbs
Funeral services for Maggie Elizabeth Williams Fobbs, 102, of Grenada, are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Greater Powell Chapel A.M.E. Church. Burial will follow in Haven Rest Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Clark-Williams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Fobbs died Feb. 10, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
She was born on Nov. 21, 1910.
Mrs. Fobbs was a homemaker and a member of Greater Powell Chapel A.M.E. Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning.
Preceding Mrs. Fobbs in death is her husband, George Fobbs Sr.
Surviving Mrs. Fobbs are three daughters, Annie Mae Ross of San Diego, Calif., Maggie Lee Latham and Cora Lee Fisher of Grenada; three sons, W. C. Fobbs, Freddie Lee Fobbs and George Fobbs Jr., all of Chicago.

Orange Frieson Jr.
Funeral services for the Rev. Orange Frieson Jr., 64, of Philipp, are at noon Saturday, Feb. 16, at St. Mark M.B. Church on Hwy 32 East. Burial will follow in Holly Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Clark-Williams Funeral Home.
The Rev. Frieson died Feb. 9, 2013, at his home.
He was born on May 17, 1948, and was the son of the late Orange Frieson Sr. and Eva. Frieson.
The Rev. Frieson was a minister and enjoyed mechanical work as a hobby. He was a member of Mt. Calvary in Glendora and Smith Chapel in Minter City.
In addition to his parents, preceding the Rev. Frieson in death are his son, David Frieson and sister, Sallie Frieson.
Surviving the Rev. Frieson are his wife, Mattie Frieson of Philipp; six daughters, Regina Frieson of Atlanta, Renetha Frieson of Greenville, Doris Patterson, Dianne Patterson and Lillie Hazzard, all of Charleston, and Tashekia Stephens of Waco, Texas; four sons, Owen Frieson of Waco, Texas, Michael Frieson of Philipp, James Patterson and Earnest Patterson of Charleston; six sisters, Mary Frieson of Philipp, Lula Strong, Martha Strong, Lucinda Lyle, and Carolyn Holloway, all of Indianapolis, Ind., and Velma Welchie of Glendora; two brothers, Archie Frieson of Philipp and J. B. Frieson of Clarksdale.

Harold Hubert Jones
Funeral services for Harold Hubert Jones, 86, of Coffeeville, were at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Family Life Center of the First Baptist Church in Coffeeville. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery near Coffeeville.
Visitation was Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Family Life Center of the First Baptist Church.
Harold died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at his home.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1926, and was the son of Hubert and Annis Boyle Jones of Yalobusha County.
Harold was employed by Coffeeville High School as a teacher and principal. He was a graduate of Coffeeville High School, Northwest Community College and Delta State University. Harold was a member of First Baptist Church in Coffeeville. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, a store owner, cattle farmer, deacon, Sunday school teacher, scout master and drivers education teacher.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Lena Farris Jones of Coffeeville; three daughters, Carol, Beverly and Lisa; three sons; Chet, Billy and Dwayne; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Newbaker Jones.
Bro. Thad Moore and Bro. Truman Scarborough officiated the services.

James K. Kidd
Funeral services for James K. “Jim” Kidd, 80, of Winona, were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Oliver Chapel in Winona. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona.
Mr. Kidd died Feb. 11, 2013, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital of heart failure.
He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Larry Garcia.
Mr. Kidd was a retired civil engineer with the Mississippi Department of Transportation and a member of Moore Memorial U. M. Church in Winona. He was also a member of the Winona Rotary Club and the Winona Masonic Lodge, as well as a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Moorman Kidd of Winona; two daughters, Jamie Niemeyer of Brandon and Margaret Adams of Tupelo; son, Dean Kidd of Winona; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services for Daserine Kinney, 67, of Grenada, are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Bethel Cathedral. Burial will follow in Haven Rest Cemetery.

Mrs. Kinney died Feb. 12, 2013, at Grenada Lake Medical Center of natural causes.
She was born on May 15, 1945.
Mrs. Kinney was a housekeeper, a Baptist and a graduate of Calhoun High School.
Surviving Mrs. Kinney are three daughters, Rosie Latham of Grenada, Daisy Brooks of Holcomb and Linda Stanford of Carrollton; six sisters, Mary Tillman of Peoria, Ill., Jim-Alice Pittman of Gore Springs, Ulav Mays of Calhoun City, Katherine Dunn of Duck Hill, Myrtle Beckom of Milwaukee, Wis., and Teresa Herd of Knoxville, Miss.; two brothers, Leonard Pittman of Lakeland, Fla., and Perry Pittman of Racine, Wis.; step-mother, Carolyn Holmes of Grenada.

Christopher Malik Logan
Funeral services for Christopher Malik Logan, 16, of Charleston, are at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Charleston High School Auditorium. Burial will follow in Little Hubbard Cemetery.

Christopher died Feb. 9, 2013, of smoke inhalation from a house fire.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1996, and was the son of Laterra Pittman and Christopher Logan of Charleston.
He was a student at Charleston High School and a member of Little Hubbard M.B. Church. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, dancing, and helping others.
In addition to his parents, surviving Christopher are two brothers, Roderius Pittman and Ty Pittman of Charleston; special friend, Kadedra Robey of Charleston.

Arthur Lee Nail
Arthur Lee Nail, 97, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Columbus. Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m. at Elliott Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Gillon and the Rev. Nick Cannady officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Grenada.
Mr. Nail was born on Friday, Feb. 19, 1915, in Carroll County to the late Bossie Lee and Addie Lou Herbert Nail. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, Miss., and a former member of Elliott Baptist Church and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada, where he served as a Sunday school director and deacon.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
He was employed by Pennaco in Grenada for several years. Then at age 60, he opened his own photography business before moving to Trinity Place Retirement Community in Columbus 18 years ago at age 80.
He was a wonderful Christian man and mentor, he loved people, family, traveling, reading, (especially the Bible) and music. He spent the last six years of his life at The Windsor Place in Columbus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Mary Hill Nail; and his brothers, Bill Nail, and Doyle Nail.
He is survived by his only son, Jerry Nail (Linda), Columbus; one sister, Helen Spall, Senatobia; two grandchildren, Lecrisha Nail and Misty Holder (Lance) of Columbus; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Jenkins, Laina Holder and Landen Holder; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pittman was a homemaker, a member of Little Hubbard M.B. Church and a 1970 graduate Allen Carver High School. She enjoyed cooking, fishing and cleaning.
Surviving Mrs. Pittman are four daughters, Collien Powell of Water Valley, Brenda Bernard and Laterra Pittman of Charleston, and Freda Pittman of Grenada; sister, Ida Elmore of Charleston; two brothers, Eugene Powell and Oscar Powell of Chicago, Ill.

Rosie Lee Wilks
Funeral services for Rosie Lee Wilks, 82, of Scobey, are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Preston M.B. Church. Burial will follow in Fleming Cemetery.

Mrs. Wilks died Feb. 10, 2012, at her home.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1930.
Mrs. Wilks was a certified nurse assistant (CNA) and a member of the Church of God In Christ.
Surviving Mrs. Wilks are eight daughters, Rosie Wren and Valerie Wilks of Scobey, Nancy Meiers and Myrtle Wilks of Phoenix, Ariz., Christella Wilks of Grenada, Evelyn Wilks of Atlanta, Katie Patterson of Boardman, Ohio, and Clorinda Wilks of Water Valley; six sons, Emanuel Wilks Jr. and William Wilks of Cleveland, Robert Wilks and Kenneth Wilks of Scobey, Chester Wilks of Oxford, William Wilks of Cleveland, Ohio, and Eric Wilks of Grenada.
