A Holcomb farmer has won a prestigious cotton award.
Johnny Little is the recipient of the 2013 High Cotton Award presented by the Farm Press and the Cotton Foundation.
The award recognizes cotton farmers who produce good yields while being responsible environmental stewards. Little, who was the Mid-South winner, was one of four regional award recipients throughout the country.
“It’s quite an honor for someone who’s spent their whole life farming,” said Little, 56.
Little started farming with his father Buddy on the same 1,500 acres he works today. They raised cotton, corn and soybeans. Little’s father instilled in him a good work ethic.
