Walter Franklin Lay
   Funeral services for Dr. Walter Franklin Lay, 70, of Winona, formerly of Union, were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at First Baptist Church in Winona and at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Antioch Baptist Church in Prentiss. Burial followed in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
   Dr. Lay died Feb. 3, 2013, at his residence of heart failure.
   He was born on Oct. 24, 1942, in Portsmouth, Va., to the late W. J. and Willie Mae Evans Lay.
   Dr. Lay attended Clarke Memorial College and was a graduate of William Carey University, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Reform Theological Seminary. He preached for 52 years, serving as pastor of several churches in Mississippi. He served on the International Mission Board for 15 years. With his wife, he was a missionary to Costa Rica. He was most recently Director of Missions for Carroll and Montgomery Counties, retiring in December 2012. Dr. Lay enjoyed photography and writing poetry. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona.
   In addition to his parents, preceding Dr. Lay in death is his son, David Franklin Lay.
   Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Margaret Carraway Lay of Winona; his daughter, Rebekah Elizabeth Lay of Winona; and three grandchildren.
   Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions, P. O. Box 408, Winona, MS 38967.

Sarah Mildred Winters
   Funeral services for Sarah Mildred Winters, 86, of Grenada, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at New Bethel Holiness Church. Burial followed in New Bethel Holiness Church Cemetery in Ashland, Miss.
   Mrs. Winters died Feb. 4, 2013, in Grenada.
   She was a homemaker and a member of New Bethel Holiness Church.
   Preceding Mrs. Winters in death are her husband, Luther Edward Winters and sons, Terry Lewis Winters and Kenneth Earl Winters.
   Surviving Mrs. Winters are four daughters, Annell Kendall of Grenada, Vivian Blount of Duck Hill, Sonia Hill of Cascilla, and Cynthia Scallion of Pope; five sons, Roy Winters, Charlie Gene Winters and Merrill Winters, all of Cascilla, Radford Winters and Wayne Winters of Grenada; two sisters, Earnestine Kendall and Rivers Dungan, of Cascilla; two brothers, R.D. Albritton and Paul Googe Albritton of Grenada; 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.
   Memorial Contributions may be made to New Bethel Holiness Church building fund.
   Newsom Funeral Home was in charge.
