The Grenada High School powerlifting team finished second in a meet held last weekend at Charleston.
GHS finished with a total of 51 points.
Junior Genard Avery won the 242-pound class with a total weight of 1,340 pounds. Avery dead lifted 535 pounds, squatted 520 pounds, and had 25 pounds in the bench press.
Stuart Shaw won the 275-pound class. The senior had a total of 1,400 pounds lifted. He best lift came in the squat of 560. In the bench press, he had 315 pounds, and in the squat a lift of 560 pounds. Shaw’s deadlift was a 525.
Jamaris Davis was the winner of the 114-pound class. He had a total weight of 635 pounds. Davis best numbers came in the deadlift at 280. He had a 240 in the squat and 115 in the bench press.
A.J. Forrest placed second in the 123-pound class lifting a total of 705 pounds. His best lift came in the deadlift at 300 pounds. He had a 150 in the bench press and a 255 in the squat.
Darius Johnson captured the 181-pound division with 1,140 pounds. The senior had a 440 in the squat, and a 420 in the deadlift. He had a 280 in the bench press.
Myles Harges finished second in the 198-pound class lifting a total of 1,020 pounds. He had a bench press of 225 pounds. In the deadlift, he lifted 390 pounds and had a 405 in the squat.
James Carver was third in the 132-pound division with a total of 735 pounds. He had a best of 330 in the deadlift. In the squat, he managed a lift of 330 pounds. He had a 245-pound lift in the squat.
Charles Stockstill placed second in the 308-pound class with a total weight of 1,115. He had a 430 in both the squat and the deadlift. His best lift in the bench press was 255.
Jadarrius Herrod was third in the 308-pound class. He had a total of 1,105 pounds. Herrod’s best lift was 445 n the squat. In the bench, he finished with a 295, and a 365 in the deadlift.
John Austin Cook had a third place finish in the Super Heavyweight division with a total of 1,135 pounds. He had a deadlift of 440 pounds, and a squat of 455 pounds. In the bench, Cook had a best lift of 240 pounds.
