The Grenada County of Board of Supervisors board voted unanimously Monday at its monthly meeting to apply for a grant that would help pay for two new patrol vehicles for the Grenada County Sheriff’s Department.
According Sheriff Alton Strider, the USDA matching grant would be used to buy vehicles to be used in District Three and District Four.
Chancery Clerk Johnny Hayward said that if the county put up $37,404, the grant, termed the Rural Development Facilities Grant, would provide $20,000 reimbursement.
District Three Supervisor Columbus Hankins made the motion to apply for the grant, seconded by District Five Supervisor Chad Gray.
