   Unemployment in Grenada County dropped 2.3 percent since last year to reach its lowest point in three years.
   The number of employed people in the Lake County rose by 330, and the number of unemployed dropped by 200, according to Mary Willoughby, chief of labor market information at the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
   “This is certainly good news for Grenada,” said Willoughby.
   In November of 2011 Grenada’s unemployment rate was 10.7 percent. This November it was 8.4 percent.
   The U.S. unemployment average is 7.9 percent.
   The highest unemployment rate in the state belonged to Clay County, at more than 16 percent. The lowest belonged to Rankin County at 4.6 percent.
   According to the MDES data, the North Central Planning and Development District, of which Grenada is a part, was also at its lowest mark in three years. About 11 percent of the potential workforce in the district was unemployed as of November, down from 13.6 percent three years ago.
