Brenda Lee Beck
Funeral services for Brenda Lee Beck, 44, of Grenada, were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Belle Flower M.B. Church. Burial followed in Haven Rest Cemetery.
Miss Beck died Dec. 20, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Apr. 8, 1968.
Miss Beck was a cook at Shoney’s and a member of Burning Bush M.B. Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and listening to music.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Davis.
Survivors include her mother, Ruth Beck of Grenada; a sister, Ester Ruth Phillips of Long Beach, Calif.; and four brothers, Joe Willie Beck of Grenada, Jerry Beck of Los Angeles, and James Lewis Beck and Norman Lee Beck, both of Long Beach.

William Merrion Beene
Funeral services for William “Bill” Merrion Beene, 81, were at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Water Valley. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Beene died Dec. 23, 2012.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1931, in Calhoun County, to Robert F. and Lula Potts Beene.
Mr. Beene served four years in the United States Navy and retired after 16 years of service in Active Air Force Reserve, and he served as commander of American Legion. He was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church, the Byhalia Masonic Lodge and the Ozark Shooters Sports Complex. He was an avid sporting clays marksman and won numerous awards and trophies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles L. “Buster” Beene; and four sisters, Katherine Wheeler, Dorothy Morris, Lola Pinkerton and Eula F. McCluskey.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Crews Beene of Water Valley; a son, Marion T. Beene of Southaven; a step-daughter, Cinthia Hailey of Water Valley; a step-son, T.C. Cornelison of Brandon; two grandsons; eight step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

Henry G. Burchfield
Funeral services for Henry G. Burchfield, 86, of McCarley, are at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the National Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 1:15 p.m. in Doty Springs Cemetery in Attala County. Bro. Rupert Ingram will officiate the service.
Visitation is Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at National Funeral Home.
Mr. Burchfield died Jan. 2, 2013, at the Greenwood-Leflore Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 3, 1926, and was the son of Henry Levi Burchfield and Ella May Watts Burchfield of Attala County.
Henry was employed by CeMar Tractor Company in Holcomb as a mechanic. He was a member of Doty Springs Baptist Church in Attala County and was also a Mason. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Ella May Burchfield; a sister, Myrtle B. Eakin; and four brothers, Edgar Burchfield, Hayes Burchfield, Fred Burchfield, and Bob Burchfield.
Mr. Burchfield is survived by his wife, Gladys Allgood Burchfield of McCarley; a daughter, Kathy McCorkle of Clarksdale; a son, Wayne Burchfield of Munford, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Shawn and Chase Burchfield and Greg and Kevin Tindall; and two great-grandchildren, Maximus and Olivia Burchfield.

Donald Raymond Bynum Sr.
Funeral services for Donald Raymond Bynum, Sr., 68, of Water Valley, were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Burial followed in Jumper’s Chapel Church Cemetery.
Mr. Bynum died Dec. 25, 2012.
He was born on July 9, 1944, to George Raymond and Martha Virginia Roberts Bynum in Yalobusha County.
Mr. Bynum was employed as a truck driver for Mississippi Carriers until his retirement. He enjoyed life, and his passions were cooking, fishing, spending time with his family and grandchildren and helping others whenever he could. He was a member of Jumper’s Chapel Church in Yalobusha County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Anthony; and his brother, Danny Bynum.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bynum of Water Valley; three daughters, Rena Calfee of Pontotoc, Rita Ladner of New Albany, and Amy Vanlandingham of Water Valley; a son, Donald Bynum Jr. of Water Valley; two brothers, Ronald Terry Bynum of Senatobia and Larry Bynum of Chicago; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Frank Golliday
Funeral services for Frank “Paw Paw” Golliday, 101, of Gore Springs, are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Greater Pleasant Grove M.B. Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Clark-Williams Funeral Home.
Mr. Golliday died Dec. 29, 2012, at Grenada Lake Medical Center of heart failure.
He was born on Sept. 23, 1911.
Mr. Golliday was a farmer and a member of Greater Pleasant Grove M.B. Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Christine Willis and Peggy Ann Steele, both of Gore Springs, Blanche Hardwick, Wardene Golliday and Carlene Golliday, all of Chicago; and two sons, John Earl Golliday of Chicago and William Golliday of Gore Springs.

Sarah Jane Harris
Funeral services for Sarah Jane Harris, 80, of Charleston, were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Womble Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Harris did Dec. 27, 2012, at Graceland Care Center in Oxford.
She was born on Sept. 7, 1932, to Joseph Reid Harris and Minnie J. Holland Harris.
Mrs. Harris was a bookkeeper.
Survivors include her relatives, Dr. George Harris Jr. of New Orleans, Michael Murphy of Clarksdale; and other relatives in the Oakland area.

Sara Ishee
Sara Dallas Ishee, 77, of Pontotoc, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born on Dec. 28, 1935, in the Troy Community and attended Troy Elementary School, Pontotoc High School and Itawamba Junior College.
For a number of years, she lived in Grenada and was employed at McQuay Industries. After retiring, she spent many years traveling around the state with her husband, Hollis, District Forester with the Mississippi Forestry Commission. Sara was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Grenada, and after a move to Pontotoc, faithfully attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Friends and family will remember Sara’s love of gardening and the outdoors, sharing her faith in Christ, and spending time with many friends who were considered “family.” She was never far from her beloved dogs, Prissy and Bear, and adopted and loved many animals in her life. Sara enjoyed cooking and visiting with friends, neighbors, and her fellow church members. Although she had no children of her own, she was thought of as a “Mother” by many. Her quick wit and infectious laugh brought comfort to family and friends alike.
Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Browning Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Sims and the Rev. Larry Windham officiating; burial followed in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two brothers, DeVan Dallas (Ellouise) of Pontotoc and Paul Dallas of Tupelo; four nieces, Diane Sauers (Jack), Pam Dallas, Sandy Dallas and Paula Dallas; two nephews, Tony Dallas and Mark Dallas; her great-nieces and nephews; and her caregiver, Faye Johnson; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lorene Dallas; her husband, Hollis Ishee; and an infant brother, J.M. Dallas.
Pallbearers were Jack Sauers, Gene Dallas, Bob Piazza, Sam Marter, Ramon Pierce and Tommy Butler.
Honorary pallbearers were Gerald and Sammie Waldrop, Maurice and Chris Ferguson, Donald and Billie Jo Bell, Jerry and Ann Morgan, Melvin Noland, Tommy Dykes, Lester Snell, Billy Belk, Terry Foster, Steve Morgan and her classmates of Pontotoc High School.
Visitation was from 11 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

John T. Keeton Jr.
John T. Keeton Jr., 89, of Grenada, retired attorney, died at his home Dec. 26, 2012, after several months of declining health.
Survivors include his wife Margaret; a son, Roy, and wife, Nancy; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at First Baptist Church at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m.
The family would be honored, as would the memory of the deceased, by gifts to Christian organizations or a charity of the donor’s choice in lieu of flowers.

Funeral services for James W. Love, 77, of Water Valley, are at noon Saturday, Jan. 5, at Springhill North M.B. Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Love died Dec. 29, 2012, at his home in Water Valley.
He was born on Dec. 10, 1935.

Funeral services for L.D. Mitchell Jr., 56, of Carrollton, formerly of Grenada, are at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at First New Hope M.B. Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Elam Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell died Dec. 31, 2012, at Grenada Lake Medical Center of pneumonia and chronic heart failure.
He was born Oct. 26, 1956.
Mr. Mitchell worked as a welder at Ashmore’s. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Faye Mitchell of Carrollton; his parents, L.D. Mitchell Sr. and Martha Mitchell of Grenada; four daughters, Kaulila Mitchell and Tiffany Spencer, both of Grenada, Lakesha Dumes of Carrollton, and Teri Binford of Milwaukee; three sons, Louis Mitchell of Georgia, L’Dmarcus Mitchell of Grenada, and Quan Binford of Milwaukee; three sisters, Linda Mitchell, Brenda Redditt, and Nettie Russell, all of Grenada; and three brothers, David Mitchell of Milwaukee and Allen Mitchell and Calvin Mitchell, both of Grenada.

Billy Roy Perry
Funeral services for Billy Roy Perry, 63, of Grenada, were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at Enon Baptist Church. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery in Carroll County.
Mr. Perry died Dec. 31, 2012, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1949, in Grenada County, to Lonnie L. Perry Sr. and Aline Hood Perry.
Mr. Perry was retired from Simon and Son Mail Service of Little Rock, Ark., after working 20 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Hill Perry.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Josie Sansing of Grenada; a step-son, Kenny Hood of Grenada; three sisters, Susie Myers of Bruce and Ruth Turnipseed and Dorothy McDill, both of Grenada; three brothers, Lonnie Perry Jr., Jimmy Perry, and Richard Perry, all of Grenada; and two grandchildren.

Warren Woodrow Steen
Funeral services for Warren Woodrow “Duce” Steen, 87, of Vaiden, were Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Bethany Church of God in Poplar Creek. Burial followed in Bethany Cemetery.
Mr. Steen died Dec. 29, 2012, at his home.
He proudly served his fellow citizens for 25 years in law enforcement. He was a faithful member and Elder of Bethany Church of God. He delighted in selling his own garden-grown vegetables, an avocation that brought him much pleasure and a sense of fulfillment. He was an avid football fan and served in the U.S. Army for three years during the Korean War. Mr. Steen will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, greatest daddy, and sweetest pawpaw.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Palmertree Steen; his parents, Louis Turner and Sallie Overstreet Steen; two brothers, Arlis K. Steen Sr. and Edward Noel Steen; and two sisters, Lois Steen Overstreet and Kathryn Steen Swanson.
Survivors include three daughters, Melissa Steen Crum, Deborah Steen Smith, and Teresa Steen Marter; two sons, Terry Lane Steen and Gerald Don Steen; a sister, Deane Jones; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Susie Morton Sudduth
Funeral services for Susie Morton Sudduth, 56, of Coila, formerly of Macon, were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Lee Funeral Home in Winona. Burial followed in Coila Cemetery.
Mrs. Sudduth died Dec. 29, 2012, at her residence of heart failure.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Billy and Mary Alice Morton.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Sudduth of Coila; two daughters, Lisa Sudduth Bradham of Merigold and Christy Sudduth Thum of Vicksburg; four sisters, Mary Ann Card of Shuqualak, Judy Triplett of Brooksville, Janet Swinney of Forest, and Martha Hall of Macon; two brothers, Billy Morton of Starkville and Eddie Morton of Louisville; and three grandchildren.

Dr. Joe Wayne Walker
Funeral services for Dr. Joe Wayne Walker, 75, of Water Valley, were at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at First Baptist Church in Water Valley. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
Dr. Walker died Dec. 29, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
He was born on Dec. 12, 1937, to James Woodrow and Mary McCaslin Walker in Detroit.
Dr. Walker graduated from Peabody High School in Trenton, Tenn., and attended the University of Tennessee and the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. He completed his internship at Richland County Hospital in Columbia, S.C. While serving as chief resident of internal medicine at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, he began his involvement in Yalobusha County as an ER Physician in Yalobusha General Hospital. Dr. Walker served on various committees and was currently serving as Chairman of the Physicians Health Network of Mississippi. He was dedicated to helping men and women who struggle with the disease of addiction and was actively involved in AA and currently Chairman of the Board of Branch of Hope. He had a passion for gardening and growing roses, and he dearly loved his family and friends. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Water Valley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Jane Walker and Linda Walker Farmer; his son, James Woodrow “Woody” Walker II; and a son-in-law, Richard Baab Griffin.
Survivors include his wife, Zandra Morris Walker of Water Valley; his children, Mary Ann Walker Stone of Greenville, Joe Wayne Walker Jr., of Rutland, Vt., John Wyliss Walker of New Albany, and Justin Ward Walker of Aspen, Colo.; a sister, Carolyn Walker Roslund of Easton, Md.; his former wife and friend, Rachel Bell; and six grandchildren.
