A Grenada convenience store has been burglarized for the fourth time in seven years, this time as one of the owners lay dying.
According to Judy Rogers, owner of B and B One Stop, someone robbed her store on Hwy. 8 East sometime between 10 p.m. on Dec. 7 and 4 a.m. on Dec. 8.
“They busted out the glass to the security door in the front and used a crowbar to pry their way in,” she said.
The burglars took some $10,000 in cash and .45 caliber pistol.
The crime is heinous enough, but when one considers that Rogers’s husband, Buddy, died of pancreatic cancer the night of the theft, it makes it particularly troubling.
“Everybody knew he was sick, and knew that we were struggling to watch the store,” said Rogers. “This is just a slap in the face to me,” she said.
Rogers and her husband worked at the store together, side by side, for years, she said. After Rogers learned of the robbery on the morning of the 8th, when her son John, who  had been watching the store, discovered it, she couldn’t even leave Buddy’s deathbed to see to things.
