Grenada found out the true meaning of April showers Wednesday as many areas of the county survived an afternoon of tornado and severe thunderstorm watches and some flash flooding.
|
| According to Grenada County Civil Defense Director George Frazier, the county was under a tornado watch until 7 p.m. yesterday evening. Heavy rains poured onto Grenada County for the entire afternoon. Frazier said that Long's Creek did very well in the rains. He said that the Monroe Street and Fairground Road did not flood as badly as they normally do. However, Frazier said that the worst of the flooding occurred in the Deerfield Subdivison and possibly at Bolton Hill Road in South Grenada. At Deerfield Subdivision water seeped through houses, garages and other personal space but nothing of damages has been reported. District Two Supervisor A. J. Minga said that his workers along with Willis Engineering went out and to see what could be done about the flooding in Deerfield. |
