WARNING
8/29/2005

The National Weather Service has issued an inland tropical storm warning in effect from 7 p.m. this evening to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Also for Grenada, according to the National Weather Service, a flash flood watch is in effect from this afternoon to late tonight.

Today and tonight could be very windy, with rain likely all day and tonight and highs around 80 degrees. Northeast winds are expected to travel at 15 to 20 miles per hour with gusts to near 30 MPH. Tonight will be very windy with rain and lows in the mid 70's. and wind gusts up to 65 miles per hour.

While the hurricane will weaken as it moves inland today, it may very well still be a Category Three hurricane up to the Highway 98 corridor, NWS officials said. Katrina will still be a hurricane well into central Mississippi and a strong tropical storm as it moves into northern Mississippi.

It is likely that Katrina will cause extensive damage across parts of central and eastern Mississippi on today and tonight.

People residing in homes that are not well constructed should have moved to a safer location to ride out the storm.

Tropical winds were expected to reach the I-20 corridor by midday and the Highway 82 corridor by late evening.
