Arrests made after ‘pot’ found at jail

A correctional officer and two others are in hot water following what authorities are calling an attempt to get drugs inside the Grenada County Jail last week.
Grenada County Sheriff Alton Strider identified the correctional officer as Timothy McKinney, 36, who is facing charges of furnishing contraband to a prisoner.
Strider said that on Friday morning, a citizen witnessed someone throwing an object over the fence at the jail and contacted authorities.
“The passerby told us someone was throwing a something over the fence near the recreation area,” Strider said. “After the object was over the fence, a car drove off.”

The sheriff’s department later arrested a woman Strider identified as Talisha Mitchell, 34, who is also charged with furnishing a contraband to a prisoner.
