Tourism votes to give city $45,000

   The Grenada Tourism Commission on Monday voted to pay the city $45,000, with the stipulation that it investigate the legality of the payment with the state auditor.
   The commission approved its May finances, and part of the statement included money for what members said were plans for a civic center to be built in the Lake City.
   According to Commission Chairman Steve Robinson, the previous commission Ok’d the payment of $45,000, at the request of City Manger Charles “Jo Jo” Weathers.
   The idea of building a civic center has been floated at numerous City Council meetings and talk of it has circulated for at least two years.
