A Grenada business fell victim to a phone scam recently, and a few others were targeted in what they’re are calling a well-coordinated, very believable hoax.
Trying to be a good company man, Sherwin-Williams paint store manager Carlton Goodson took money from his personal checking account to pay a bill that turned out to be false.
“The man called here, on June 11, presenting himself as an Entergy technician,” said Goodson, who has been with the company more than 20 years. “He gave me a badge number, an account number and a 800 number to call. He told me that termination of our service was imminent, the same day, and that it needed to be paid immediately. It was very believable.”
