Affidavits have been sworn out for a Cascilla man after a group of donkeys were found starving to death on his property.
According to Doll Stanley with In Defense of Animals, who also operates Hope Animal Sanctuary near Duck Hill, she swore out affidavits against the man she would not identify for legal reasons, for what she called “unimaginable cruelty and wanton neglect of animals.”
An arrest warrant was sworn out Tuesday morning, she said.
Three donkey carcasses were found on the man’s property on Powell Creek Road, along with the skeletal remains of another on March 5.
Two donkeys, a jack, or a male, and a jenny, a female, clung to life.
Veterinarian Dr. Tom Abernethy administered medical treatment to the donkeys, but the female held on to life for only two days.
