An escaped, Grenada inmate was arrested Sunday in a vehicle that, according to police, is registered with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
According Police Chief Ben Williams, Joshua Terry was apprehended shortly after 11 p.m. outside a residence in the 100 block of Goza Street while in a 2009 Chevrolet Imapla.
Residents of the neighborhood reported a suspicious vehicle, Willaims said.
“Terry was dressed in inmate clothing, wearing green and white stripes,” said Williams. “Terry was supposed to be in jail and did not have permission to leave or to be in possession of the vehicle.”
He was being held on a burglary charge, Williams said.
Grenada police charged Terry with felony escape and motor vehicle theft, but it’s unclear how he gained access to the keys or was allowed to escape a locked parking lot.
