Robert Eugene Austin
   Funeral services for Robert Eugene “Bob” Austin, 75, of Grenada, are at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at National Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Grenada Memorial Gardens.
   Visitation is Thursday  from 1 to 2 p.m. at National Funeral Home.
   Robert died July 7, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital DeSoto in Southaven.
   He was born on Nov. 26, 1937, and was the son of the late Jack Scarbrough and Mary Louise McLeroy Austin of Grenada.
   Bob was a 1956 graduate from Grenada High School. He joined the Army after school and served in Korea, Vietnam, Germany and Japan. He retired from the service in 1982 as a sergeant major after 28 years. Bob returned to Grenada and worked for the Mississippi Corp of Engineers for a while then took a job with the Mississippi Department of Transportation before retiring in 1999. He was a Baptist.
   Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kyoko Austin of Grenada; a daughter, Maj. Mary Malinda Austin of Fort Meade, Md.; a son, Johnny Raymond Austin of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Jackie L. Austin Weibly of Grenada; a brother, Johnny Randall Austin of Southaven; a niece, Dawn Marie Martin; a nephew, Randall Eugene Austin; great-niece, Megan Martin; and great-nephew, Hayden Martin.
   Bro. Kenny Thomas, pastor at Lakewood Methodist Church, will officiate the service.
   National Funeral Home is in charge.

Bradley Dean Martin
   Funeral services for Bradley Dean Martin, 77, of Water Valley were at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Burial followed in Mt. Liberty Cemetery in Calhoun County.
   Mr. Martin died July 4, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.  
   He was born in the Driver’s Flat Community of Calhoun County to the late Dalton David and Fannie Vines Martin.  
   Mr. Martin attended Driver’s Flat Baptist Church. He loved working on and collecting all kinds of vehicles, tractors and anything with a motor. He enjoyed carpentry and was a “jack of all trades.”
   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dulcie Prestage.
   Surviving Mr. Martin are two daughters, Vicki “Missy” Howe of Bruce and Rexanne Smith of Birmingham, Ala.; and five grandchildren.
   Seven Oaks Funeral Home was in charge.

Sylvia Carpenter Graham
   Funeral services for Sylvia Carpenter Graham, 58, of Water Valley, were at 3 p.m. Monday, July 8, in Henry Chapel at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Burial followed in Church Grove Cemetery in Lafayette County.
   Mrs. Graham died July 5, 2013, at her home.
   She was born in Clarksdale, to Christine Varner Carpenter of Water Valley and the late Arthur Carpenter.  
   Mrs. Graham was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing, flowers and spending time with her friends, family and grandchildren.
   In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Graham; her sister, Shirley Milam; and two brothers, Kenneth Carpenter and Melvin Carpenter.
   In addition to her mother, surviving Mrs. Graham are her daughter, Dana Zuniga of Pontotoc; two sons, Marcus Garner of Hernando and Paul Garner of Oxford; one brother, Lyndon Carpenter of Oxford; and six grandchildren.
   Seven Oaks Funeral Home was in charge.

Earl Clinton Jones
   A private graveside service for Earl Clinton Jones, 64, of Grenada, was held on Wednesday, June 26, at Highland Memorial Gardens in Knoxville, Tenn.
   Mr. Jones died June 23, 2013, at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.
   He was the son of Inez Jones and the late Ross Jones of Knoxville, Tenn.
   In addition to his mother surviving Mr. Jones are his wife, Rosetta Henderson Jones of Grenada; brother, Jimmy “JJ” Jones of Knoxville, Tenn.; three step-children, Lisa Eden of Corinth, Johnny Swindle of Ponchatoula, La., Mike Swindle of Booneville, Miss.
   Weaver Funeral Home was in charge.

John Powell McHann

   Funeral services for John Powell McHann, 83, former resident of Blytheville, Ark., and Southaven, Miss., were at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Newsom Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Needmore Cemetery in Tippo.
   Mr. McHann died July 3, 2013, at Osceola Living Center in Osceola, Ark., after a long illness.  
   He was the son of the late Earnest and Nancy McHann of Tippo.
   Mr. McHann had a successful sales career in the food industry and won many awards. He was also a veteran of the Korean War and served in both the Air Force and Army while enlisted overseas. A member of the basketball team at Charleston High School from 1949-1950, he once played against the Harlem Globetrotters.
   In addition to his parents, preceding Mr. McHann in death are his wife, Alive Jean McHann and two sisters, Annett Bair and Betty Finka.
   Surviving Mr. McHann are two daughters, Rita Baker of Southaven and Stacy Bullard of Blytheville, Ark.; two sons, William C. “Bill” McHann of Blytheville, Ark., and John David Mchann of Bridge City, Texas; his brother, Jimmy McHann of Jackson, Miss.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
   Newsom Funeral Home was in charge.
 
Robert Leonard McCain
   Funeral services for Robert Leonard McCain, 17, of Grenada, are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Bethel Cathedral COGIC. Bural will follow in Sweethome Cemetery.
   Mr. McCain died July 7, 2013, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
   He was born on July 27, 1995, and was the son of Maria Russell of Grenada and Otis Steve McCain of Gore Springs.
   Mr. McCain was an incoming senior at Grenada High School. He loved baseball and collecting videos and was a member of Bethel Cathedral COGIC.
   In addition to his parents, surviving Mr. McCain are his sister, Ashley Steele of Gore Springs; brother, Jonathan Mayo of Shreveport, La.; grandparents, Judge and Mrs. Leon Williamson of Grenada and Fannie McCain of Gore Springs; aunt and uncle, Candace and Lamont Simmons of Cordova, Tenn.
   Clark-Williams Funeral Home is in charge.

Fay Lindley Mullen

   Funeral services for Fay Lindley Mullen, 89, of Hernando, were at noon Friday, July 5, at Womble Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Rowland Cemetery.
   Mrs. Mullen died July 2, 2013, at her home.
   She was born on Feb. 12, 1924, in Dangerfield,Texas.
   Mrs. Mullen was a private caregiver.
   Preceding Mrs. Mullen in death are three sons, William David Mullen, Paul Alton Mullen Sr. and Elvis Earl Mullen.
   Surviving Mrs. Mullen are two daughter, Faye Ferrell and Linda Sutphin of Hernando; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
   Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
